REQUEST FOR INFORMATION / SOURCES SOUGHT for II-336TG Plantar Test-Tail Flick Meter, Brand-Name or Equal DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS, VISN 23 Source Sought: The VA is seeking business sources qualified to provide some, or all, of the items listed below as Brand Name or Equal. This is NOT a solicitation. INTERESTED SOURCES SHALL RESPOND BY: Please submit response no later than 10:00am CST, Monday July 8, 2024 All responses and questions must be emailed to Amanda.Patterson-Elliott@va.gov and must include in the subject line: Sources Sought Plantar Test Tail Flick Meter 36C26324Q0936 POTENTIAL SOURCES SHALL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN THEIR RESPONSE: 1. Company name, address, phone number, primary contact(s), e-mail address. 2. State if your firm distributes the Brand Name items, or Equal items. 3. SAM UEI number. 4. NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code that your firm uses for surgical and medical equipment manufacturing. 5. State if your firm is a large business, small business, service-disabled-veteran-owned small business, veteran-owned small business, HUB zone 8(a), women-owned small business or a small disadvantaged business. 6. State if your firm has the required items on Schedule (FSS, GSA, SEWP, other ). 7. Provide a letter from the manufacturer verifying your firm is an authorized distributor. 8. Provide the country of origin for each of the required items. REQUIRED ITEM and Salient Characteristics: Brand-Name or Equal to: II-336TG Plantar Test-Flick Meter: Includes three acrylic animal enclosures that each hold two rats or four mice Precise programmable digital control User-defined humane cutoff feature Adjustable beam intensity in 1% increments up to 250 C Reaction is detected automatically Alphanumeric readout Manual override of all timer functions All functions and parameters entered via key pad Tail temperature monitor option (for use with the Tail Flick meter) Unique characteristics that limit availability to only Brand Name, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: This requirement must be the Plantar II-336 TG model which includes heated glass. When an animal is placed on cold glass, its reaction time may be slower. This unique system offers a heated glass option that prevents the glass enclosure from acting as a heat sink, giving a more accurate reading. An optional tail temperature monitor can also be selected for use with the Tail Flick meter. This option preheats the tail before experimentation. Once the preset tail temperature is reached, the test and timer automatically begin. A glass stand is also available in two sizes for large group studies.
