- Description
- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCMENET ONLY. This is sources south Notice only and it is not a solicitation announcement. The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to gain knowledge of qualified, potential contractors and their socio-economic size classification in accordance with NAICS code 115310. Responses will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After a review of the responses to this Sources Sought Notice, a solicitation announcement may be posted. A response to this Sources Sought Notice is not an adequate reply to a potentially forthcoming solicitation. This potential procurement is for a potential project to mechanical treat logged timber land on 1 site that totals 178 acres in size for site preparation of planting containerized longleaf pine seedlings and understory restoration planting. The project should remove woody debris and break up any root mats that may be present on the site while helping to expose bare mineral soil to facilitate understory restoration seeding. The project will require intensive root raking going 8-12 inches subsurface and consolidating the debris in small piles across the tract for U.S. Fish & Wildlife employees to burn at a later date. Raking will be kept at the surface level within a 66 ft proximity of any marked retention trees to mitigate damage to their roots. Debris piles must be located at least 66 ft from the base of any trees designated for retention inside the work area as well as 66 ft from the boundary of the work area. The project will require the clearing of root mats and stumps as well as any organic debris lying on the ground. Most of the standing unfelled trees or shrubs designated for removal will be at or below 5 DBH but a 16-acre section of the work site will have some pine trees marked with orange marking paint to indicate their retention on the site. The project would be at Saint Marks National Wildlife refuge 1255 Lighthouse Rd, St Marks, FL 32355. If your firm can provide the above, submit your interest to Curtis_Smith@fws.gov by 7/03/2024 5:00PM Eastern Time.
