Description
Request for Information (RFI) Synopsis: The Regional Contracting Office MCIWEST is conducting market research to identify contractors capable of providing weather stations with lightening prediction capabilities for the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar. Requirement details: The Regional Contracting Office has a requirement for a weather station with lightening prediction capabilities. We are posting this request for information to better understand the market and its capabilities. We are seeking a fixed weather station that can read and forecast weather back to command computers for them to employ personnel and equipment safely. Furthermore, the weather station we are seeking must have advanced lightening prediction capabilities vice lighting detection capabilities. Our definition of prediction is NOT just forecast on probability. Lightening prediction must provide a warning with analytical data of conditions set prior to the first lightning strike which is to include cloud to cloud strikes, and cloud to ground strikes. The system must also provide a safe all clear from lightning or any other dangers such as lightning back strikes. The importance of this lightening prediction stems from the unit being responsible for not only the entire base of Miramar but also the air stations runway. The North American Industry Classification Standard (NAICS) code for this project is 334519 (Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing) with a size standard of 600 Employees, NAICS code compliance verification will occur if/when Quotes are submitted. Responses to Request for Information: Contractors are reminded that this is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION and is NOT a request for proposal/bid/quote. However, we are requesting estimates for market research, budgeting, and planning purposes. This does NOT guarantee there will be a RFQ for this requirement in the future. This request for information is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information submitted in response.
