- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order to Illumina, LLC. on a sole source basis. In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the Contractor is the only known responsible source who can provide the services for the requirement listed below. The purpose of this notice is to inform the public that the NIH, National Eye Institute (NEI) intends to issue �purchase order to Illumina, LLC (referred to hereafter as Illumina) to acquire the Illumina NextSeq 1000 instrument.� �The NextSeq 1000 instrument is a benchtop sequencing platform that utilizes sequencing by synthesis (SBS) technology to produce highly accurate sequencing data.� It offers several pattern flow cells (P1-P4) to provide from 100 million � 1.8 billion pair end reads, depending on needs.� The NextSeq1000 instrument is needed to meet NEI�s Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) needs. �This new instrument will be added to our collection of Illumina sequencers and will offer more flexibility to meet the growing sequencing needs.� Illumina instruments only uses proprietary reagents sold by Illumina.� Illumina NextSeq instruments require proprietary reagents obtainable only from Illumina.� NEI already utilizes a NextSeq 2000 instrument and the new NextSeq 1000 uses the same sequencing flow cells and reagents as the NextSeq 2000. �This will allow NEI to use these instruments� interchangeably depending on the sequencing needs.� This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any party that believes it can fulfill the requirement as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates the ability to satisfy the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.� It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately five (5) days after�the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another company has the capability to satisfy this requirement.
