- Description
- Seeking Sources: Veterans Health Administration, Network Contracting Office 5, is issuing this request for information/sources sought notice in order to identify companies that have the resources and capabilities to install façade safety netting on the Baltimore, MD Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all resources necessary for the installation of façade safety netting over the existing granite veneer located on the exterior of the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) and bridge connecting to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). Work includes, conducting a site survey investigation, preparation of anchoring plan, and anchoring the temporary mesh netting system to the existing granite veneer. All existing openings (windows and louvers) shall remain open with the proposed mesh netting material terminating on all opening sides. The Baltimore VAMC has a total of eight levels above grade. The above grade height categorizes the building as a high-rise. The existing granite sections range from 50 FT to 150 FT above finish grade. The exterior of the building consists of a combination of glass curtain wall and approximately 114,500 square feet of granite veneer with some precast concrete accents. The backup material for the opaque areas (granite veneer) varies from cast in place concrete to concrete masonry units (CMU) with much of the back up being framed walls (steel studs with gypsum board sheathing and an external layer of #15 lb felt). The intent of the mesh safety netting system is to eliminate sections of the existing granite from spalling off the building and potentially striking pedestrians or vehicle traffic below. Technical Qualifications Contractor performing the work must have a minimum of 10 years of experience installing façade safety netting with at least two similar projects having been completed within the last 5 years. Interested & Capable Responses: NCO 5 is seeking responses from companies that are interested in this procurement and consider themselves to have the resources and capabilities necessary to provide these services. Please respond with your: 1. Business name, business type, socio-economic status (e.g., Veteran-Owned, Woman-Owned, Disadvantaged Small Business, 8(a), etc.), and person of contact (including telephone number & email address). 2. Capability statement and summary of your company s previous experience installing façade safety netting on buildings of similar size and makeup. 3. Ballpark cost estimate of what the Baltimore VAMC could expect to pay your company to perform the work described above. Responses must be submitted by 11:00 AM April 8, 2024. Responses to the information requested above must be submitted via email to james.whisner@va.gov. This request for information/sources sought notice is for planning purposes ONLY. The results of this market research will assist in the development of (1) the requirement, and (2) the acquisition strategy (e.g., small business set-aside, full and open competition, etc.). VA assumes no responsibility for any costs incurred associated with the preparation of responses submitted as a result of this notice.
