- Description
- The purpose of this Solicitation amendment is to provide answers to questions from industry 1. Is autoclaving the waste and option instead of shredding? It is autoclaved then placed into a compactor where it is taken to the landfill and immediately covered. a. Autoclaving process is an apparatus in which special conditions (such as high or low pressure or temperature) can be established for a variety of applications to sterilize the bio-waste. This process would kill the harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. Waste is normally compacted or shredded and sent to a landfill or waste-to-energy facility. Since the waste has been rendered non-infectious, it is safe to dispose of alongside other regular trash. Shredding or compacting the bio-waste alone isn t enough to dispose of this waste.
