- Description
- Water Testing & Sample Collection Kits Q&A: Q: With respect to this statement on page 5: ""2) Bottles for RO/DI and utility water testing of pH, conductivity, total hardness, total alkalinity per point of use in the Sterile Processing Service Department in each facility. Packaging for return of the samples that meets the requirements for temperature control"" , could you clarify the number of points of use in each facility and what tests are needed for each? Same question for part 1 for endotoxin and bacteria. A: The point of use for Quarterly Utility Water testing: 1) CLT has 3 (2 medivators and 1 decontamination area) utility sink) 2) KVL has 3 (2 medivators and 1 decontamination area) utility sink) 3) SBY has 5 medivators and 2 decontamination area sinks, 1 sink in building 2 the other in building 21. The point of use for monthly RO water testing: 1) CLT has 3 (2 RO sinks and 1washer 1disinfector) 2) KVL has 3 (2 RO sinks and 1washer 1disinfector) 3) SBY has 4 ( 3 RO sinks and 1 washer disinfector). Q: The list of analytes on page 2 under ""SPECIFICATIONS FOR GUARANTEE PERIOD SERVICES:"" lists chlorine as an analyte. Could you verify that this was supposed to be alkalinity and no chlorine testing is required to be performed by the contractor? A: That is correct it is supposed to be Alkalinity. Q: We outsource our endotoxin analysis which can be performed as either a semi-quantitative or fully quantitative analyses (at a higher cost). Are semi-quantitative results (positive/negative) acceptable? A: We need quantitative our water has to be <10 EU/ml. Q: We perform chlorine analyses on water samples but these should be processes almost immediately upon collection for accuracy. Would it be possible to include a chlorine test kit with the collection bottles once per month? Do you know the range of detection for chlorine that would be acceptable? A: The ST 108 doesn t require chlorine testing at this time and may be dropped. It only mentions that high level of chlorine can corrode stainless. Q: We are accredited to perform bacterial plate counts in the state of Tennessee but not nationwide. Is that acceptable? A: Must be accredited in the state of North Carolina.
