- SUBJECT: Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the Signal Data Converter (SDC), NSN 5895-01-567-7326, PN 8010000806-4 ITEM DESCRIPTION The SDC is a system used on the AC-130W, C-17A, F-16C, F-16D, MC-130H. The Signal Data Converter (SDC) is a component of the Combined Altitude Radar Altimeter (CARA). The Converter is a solid state, microprocessor controlled signal converter which transforms the digital output of a Receiver Transmitter (RT) into an altitude and an altitude rate signal. In addition, the Converter provides the following discrete altitude-related signals to be used by Altitude standby signal, Radar altimeter ready signal, Low altitude warning, Altimeter out-of-track and Altitude reliable signal. Impediment to Competition: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is Extant Aerospace (CAGE 22830), which maintains its configuration by part number and software version. The Government does not own any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, Extant Aerospace is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the SDC performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to Extant Aerospace for the manufacture of the SDC in support of the CARA program.
