- This is a requirement for Crane (Derrick and Jib) Inspection and Maintenance on Farallon Island, CA off the coast of San Francisco. ****SITE VISIT INFO**** Site visit has been rescheduled and will occur on Monday 3/18. Requests to attend must be received by Noon on 3/15. Contact Gerry to attend the site visit 510-435-9151. -Location: Fish Emeryville, 3310 Powell Street, Emeryville, CA 94608. Meet in the parking lot by the boat ramp and dock. -Meet time: 7:00 AM PST -Expect an approx. 2.5 hr trip to the island and a 2.5 hr return trip, with an additional ~2-3 hours on-site. -Approx return time: 4:00 PM -Transportation will be aboard a 50-ft charter boat. -Prepare for cold, breezy, foggy and wet conditions. Dress in layers, including rain gear. -Bring your own food and water. -Only minimal gear will be permitted ashore. -All gear coming ashore must be packed in sealed, clean, containers or daypacks to prevent introduction of living things or plant seeds. -Provide names and cell phone numbers of all requested participants. Space is limited, so we may not be able to accommodate all requested participants. Email gerry_mcchesney@fws.gov or call at 510-435-9151 to register interest for the site visit. Please only contact Gerry for site visit related information. ************** Vendor will be responsible to transportation to Farallon Island via boat or helicopter. The best location to charter boats from is within San Francisco Bay (e.g., Sausalito, Emeryville, or San Francisco), but Half Moon Bay (Pillar Point Harbor) is also possible. Travel distances range about 30-40 miles depending on the harbor. There is an electric wheelbarrow on island to use to transport tools. The cranes are about a 15 minute walk from each other. There is no lift, but there is scaffolding. Each period of annual maintenance and inspection is expected to last about 5 days of work. Please see attached PWS for work requirements to perform annual inspection and routine maintenance on both cranes. Please see last few pages of attached solicitation document for instructions on what to submit.
