Great Smoky Mountains National Park ACTION: Pre-Solicitation Notice PRE-SOLICITATION NUMBER: 140P5324R0009 CLASSIFICATION CODE: Y1ND � CONSTRUCTION OF SEWAGE AND WASTE FACILITIES The NAICS Code for this requirement is 237110 � Water and Sewer Line and Related Structures Construction $45 POINT OF CONTACT: Geraldine Larsen, Contract Specialist, geralding_larsen@nps.gov PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: Great Smoky Mountains National Park PLACE OF PERFORMANCE POSTAL CODE: 37882 PLACE OF PERFORMANCE STATE AND COUNTY: Townsend TN, Blount County Title of Project: Wastewater System Improvement Project, Cable Mill Area Description: It is proposed to abandon the existing septic tank and sand filter system and install a new septic tank. The new septic tank will discharge to a new dosing tank, which in turn will pump to a new subsurface wastewater disposal field. An additional storage tank will also be installed adjacent to the dosing tank to provide additional storage capacity during peak flows. Due to funding limitations, not all of the proposed work will be done as part of this contract. Several bid options are provided to provide for phasing of the proposed work. NEW SEPTIC TANK AND DRAIN FIELD: Contractor shall provide and install a new septic tank, dosing tank, storage tank, distribution boxes, and drain field as illustrated on the proposed construction plans. The proposed drain field will consist of two adjacent areas, each of which will contain 15 drain lines at 135 linear feet each. All clearing and grading necessary for the proposed work shall be included in the scope of work. DEMOLITION: The existing septic tank shall have a bolted lid installed or the existing lid can be welded closed. The sewer lines entering the tank shall be exposed and capped on both sides of the tank � note that the lines are very shallow, and easily exposed. AREA RESTORATION: All areas disturbed by the contractor shall be restored to original condition. A gravel road will need to be crossed with the proposed force main pipe. The road will need to be replaced to original conditions in accordance with the plans and specifications. Areas outside of gravel road areas shall be graded, and hydro-seeded with the approved Park seed mix. Areas outside of the immediate work area shall not be disturbed.
