Description
Procurement of two Airseal abdominal cavity Insufflator units to meet the need for more than 2 rooms operating at the same time in different rooms. These are used for laparoscopic procedures for visualization of the cavity during minimal invasive procedures. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: Currently there are 2 of these units in use in the Operating Room at the Salem VA, which utilizes disposables in stock specific to these units. Since there are already established use by the surgeons and existing supplies and equipment, no other manufacturer equipment will be compatible. Must have this specific manufacturer model of this item. These two units will also be placed on current Airseal carts that are currently in the facility with the same manufacturer CO2 hook ups, no other manufacturer equipment will fit or is compatible to the hook ups. Clinically, this insufflator has been shown to reduce CO2 pressures/ gas used in the cavity which in turn reduces airway pressure, blood pressure, and post-operative pain, and increases pulmonary compliance, without compromising surgeon s visibility. These units also provide a smoke free visual field due to unique gas recirculation technology that automatically filters surgical smoke in the abdominal cavity created using cautery during the procedure, while maintaining the needed abdominal pressures.
