Description
Additional RFI Questions with Answers 36C25724B0009 CTX Revitalize Dom Halls and Walls (Project 674-23-250) We understand that project warranty is revised to 1 year per Am#2 Set 1 Q&A#9.  If this is not a correct understanding, please clarify otherwise by amendment.  Warranty period is one year. Amendment #2 revised plans by adding an entire wing (B-Wing 2nd Floor) and the connecting common areas as additional phases, but fails to add additional time.  Please add substantial time to the project duration to accommodate the additional work added by amendment #2.  Period of Performance is substantial and does not need to be modified to give more time. Please confirm the allocated funding for the project includes the new wing and common areas and additional phases added by amendment #2.  Confirmed Amendment #2 issued on 11/28/23 is substantial.  Request the bid date be postponed until the second week of January as contractors, subcontractors and suppliers may have scheduled holiday vacations.  This may improve contractor response to the solicitation.  See Amendment 0003 for extension date. Amendment #2 Set 16 refers to pictures of toilet partitions.  We do not find any pictures provided in the documents provided on Sam.gov.  We find no requirement in the scope of work or the plans provided to demolish or provide any new toilet partitions.  If any work is required to demo or provide any new toilet partitions, please define this work to include locations on a plan sheet and on plan elevations so that this work can be quantified.  There are no bathroom partitions in this project.  Please provide Specifications per Amendment #2 Set 6 Q&A#6.  Provided Please provide light fixture part numbers per Am#2 Set 6 Q&A#6&7. See attached. Amendment #2 Set 7 Q&A#5 adds new work to demolish existing ceiling grid to be replaced with new.  Please confirm new intermediate duty ceiling grid is acceptable.  New grid shall match the existing. Amendment #2 Revised plan AE-102 revises the existing ceiling height in patient restrooms to be 9 A.F.F. instead of 8 A.F.F. but does not provide the existing ceiling height at Halls.  Please provide existing ceiling height at Halls.  All existing ceiling heights shall remain Flooring basis of design provided (Am#2 Set 1 Question 2) is Mohawk VTP maple.  Please confirm any of Mohawk s vinyl tile planks (VTP) lines/models with maple in the color description is acceptable. Samples shall be provided to the VA through the submittal process. Am#2 Set 1 Questions 3 and 4 requested the basis of design for ceramic tile.  Response provided is Walls and Floors existing tile was coated by contractor.   Is the requirement for this project a coating over existing tile or is existing ceramic wall and floor tile required to be demolished and replaced with new ceramic wall and floor tile?  Contractor shall demolish and replace the existing tile on the walls and floors.  If new ceramic wall and floor tile is required, confirm any mfr/model in any size and color group is acceptable.  If not, please provide basis of design for ceramic wall and floor tile.  Please see provided drawings and specs. Samples shall be provided to the VA through the submittal process. Reference Am#2 Set 1 Question 5.  Confirm the LBT wood paneling as used on the plans is actually the vinyl tile plank flooring.  Confirmed Reference Set 1 Q&A 6.  Confirm any Sherwin Williams paint line (model) matching colors Stucco and Ascot Blue are acceptable.  Samples shall be provided to the VA through the submittal process. Reference Set 1 Q&A 7.  Understand shower and lavatory faucets basis of design is Delta.  If Delta does not manufacture wall mounted toilet fixtures, confirm any mfr s wall mounted toilet is acceptable. Samples shall be provided to the VA through the submittal process. Amendment #2 Set 1 Question 13 adds the requirement for new handrails.  Are the new handrails to be wood or vinyl?  Please provide a plan detail showing the profile required.   Inpro 800 series handrails is the basis of design Refer to question above.  Please provide a basis of design manufacturer and model number and color for the new handrails.  Inpro 800 series handrails is the basis of design Are new light fixtures to be fluorescent or LED?  LED, Please see attached.  Reference Amendment #2 Set 1 Q&A23.  Confirm wall mounted items such as artwork, etc. is to be salvaged and reinstalled.  Confirmed Reference Amendment #2 Set 1 Q&A23 and Set 2 Q&A#16 which indicate that all new Toilet accessories are required for this project.  Toilet accessories are not identified on the drawings.  Please provide a design that contractors can bid.  Accessories are VA provided and Contractor installed.  Installation location shall be coordinated with the VA Are new mirrored medicine cabinets required in each patient restroom?  If yes, how many are required in each patient restroom?  Existing mirrors to be reused. Why would the existing stainless steel grab bars need to be replaced?  Should these be salvaged for re-installation?  Where applicable Is a new toilet paper dispenser required in each patient restroom or is this provided by the VA under a separate maintenance agreement?  Accessories will be provided by the VA and installed by the GC. Is a new soap dispenser required in each patient restroom or is this provided by the VA under a separate maintenance agreement.  Accessories will be provided by the VA and installed by the GC. Reference Set 1 Q&A 6.  There are conflicts in Amendment #2 responses regarding the work requirements in mechanical, electrical, IDF, HAC and Comm Rooms.  We understand Amendment #2 Set 1 Q&A 6 is correct stating no flooring or painting is intended or required in the mechanical, Electrical, IDF, HAC and Comm. Rooms.  Please confirm.  There is no work in those rooms. Amendment #2 Set 7 Q&A# 3 revises scope to no longer require acoustic ceiling tiles at patient restrooms.  Confirm existing gypsum board ceilings are existing to remain and require painting.  Confirmed Amendment #2 Set 14 Q&A#11 adds new corner guards to the scope of work but does not indicate locations, size, color or other material requirements.  Confirm any type, size and color of corner guard is acceptable and locations are limited to halls.    G2-168F Bio PolyPETG Flush Mount Crnr Guard 8' x 2"", 90° 32 EA. G2-169F 160 Flush Mount Corner Guard 2"" x 9' BioBlend 66 EA.  Color to be chosen by the VA through the submittal process.  Am#2 Questions 36C25724B0009, CTX Revitalize Dom Halls and Walls, Temple VAMC Amendment #2 issued after the site visit added an entire wing to the project scope which contractors did not see.  Please confirm the new Phase 4 - 2nd floor bathrooms added by amendment 2 are identical in existing construction to the level 1 restroom seen at the site visit.  Confirmed Amendment #2 Interior Finish Schedule on AS-100 and AS-102 indicate ELE. (Electrical closets), HAC closets, and Comm (Communications) closets to receive TILE floor.  The same TILE designation is used for Bathrooms which seems to be an error.   Confirm TILE used in bathrooms to be ceramic tile and TILE used in ELE., HAC and Comm. closets to be vinyl tile or that no work is required in these rooms.  There is no work in the HAC, mechanical, and communication closet areas.  Amendment #2 plans indicate ELE., HAC closets and Com closets to receive new finishes.  These rooms were not shown at the site visit.  To replace floors and paint walls in these rooms, comm racks and cabling may need to be moved which could disrupt operations.  Please confirm no work is required in these rooms.  No work is required in these spaces If ELE. HAC and Comm closets are to be included in the scope of work, please provide photos of these rooms by amendment as these rooms were not shown to bidders at the site visit.  Disregard if these rooms are not included in the scope of this project.  No work is required in these spaces
