Description
The contractor shall provide as scheduled by the Government Representative a supply of fruits, vegetables, and salad dressings to� U.S. personnel. The Contractor shall provide a standard order form and a list of available items to order each week with completely case poundage for fruit and vegetables. All fruits and vegetables ordered utilizing completely case concept. The Contractor shall provide products from the list below: a. Fresh fruits. (a) Apples � Red Delicious or granny smith � U.S. Fancy grade standards, mature but not overripe, clean, well formed, and free from decay, internal browning, internal breakdown, soft scald, freezing injury, visible water core, and broken skins. (b) Oranges � naval or Valencia. U.S. Fancy grade standards - mature, well colored, firm, well formed, of smooth texture, and which are free from decay. No broken skins which are not healed, hard or dry skins, exanthema, growth cracks, dryness, or mushy condition, and free from injury caused by bruises, split, rough, wide, or protruding navels, creasing, scars, oil spots, scale, skin breakdown, sunburn, dirt or other foreign material disease, insects or mechanical or other means. (c) Pears � U.S. no 1 grade standards consists of pears of one variety which are mature, but not overripe, carefully hand-picked, clean, well formed, and free from decay. No internal breakdown, scald, freezing injury, worm holes, black end, and from damage caused by hard end, bruises, broken skins, limb rubs, hail, scars, drought spot, sunburn, sprayburn, stings or other insect injury, disease, or mechanical or other means. (d) Banana � No excessive bruising, evidence of chilling or freezing, over ripeness. b. Summer seasonal fresh (a) Cantaloupes - U.S. No. 1 grade standard consists of cantaloupes of one type which are mature and have good internal quality but are not overripe or soft or wilted. In addition, which are well formed, well netted, free from decay, wet slip, and sunscald, and free from damage caused by liquid in the seed cavity, sunburn, hail, dirt, surface mold or other disease, aphis or other insects, scars, cracks, sunken areas, ground spot, bruises, or mechanical or other means. (b) Honeydew - U.S. No. 1 grade standard consists of honeydew or honey ball type melons which are mature, firm, well formed, which are free from decay, and free from damage caused by dirt, aphis stain, rust spots, bruises, cracks, broken skin, sunscald, sunburn, hail, moisture, insects, disease, or other means. (c) Nectarines - U.S. Fancy consists of nectarines of one variety, which are mature, but not soft or overripe, well formed, clean, and free from decay. No broken skins which are not healed, worms, worm holes, and free from injury caused by bruises, growth cracks, hail, sunburn, spray burn, scab, bacterial spot, scale, split pit, scars, other disease, insects, or mechanical or other means. (d) Watermelons - Basic requirements: Mature, well formed, Not overripe, Decay, Sunscald, White heart, Free from damage by any means c. Salad Items. (a) Cucumbers - U.S. Fancy grade standards consist of cucumbers which are well colored, well formed, not overgrown, and which are fresh, firm, and free from decay, sunscald, and from injury caused by scars and from damage caused by yellowing, sunburn, dirt, or other foreign material, freezing, mosaic or other disease, insects, cuts, bruises, mechanical or other means. � (b) Onions, yellow dry, peeled - Similar varietal characteristics, except color when designated as a specialty or mixed pack; mature; firm; and, well shaped. (c) Radishes, fresh, red - U.S. No. 1 grade standards consist of radishes of similar varietal characteristics the roots of which are clean, well formed, smooth, firm, tender, and free from decay and free from damage caused by freezing, growth cracks or air cracks, cuts, pithiness, disease, insects, or other means. Bunched radishes have tops, which are fresh, free from decay, and free from damage caused by freezing, seed stems, yellowing or other discoloration, disease, insects, or other means. (d) Spinach, iceberg lettuce or romaine lettuce fresh, ready-to-use (prepackaged spinach or lettuce mix is not acceptable) - plants of similar varietal characteristics which are fresh, well developed, well-trimmed, and which are free from decay, and free from damage caused by seed stems, broken, bruised or discolored leaves, tip burn, wilting, foreign material, freezing, dirt, disease, insects, mechanical or other means (e) Tomatoes - U.S. No. 1 grade standard consists of tomatoes of similar varietal characteristics which are mature but not overripe or soft, clean, well formed, which are free from decay, sunscald, and freezing injury, and free from damage caused by bruises, cuts, shriveling, puffiness, catfaces, growth cracks, scars, disease, insects, moldy stems, skin checks, or other means (f) Lemons, fresh - U.S. No. 1 grade standards consist of lemons, which are mature, firm, well formed, smooth. Must be free from decay, contact spot, internal evidence of, unhealed broken skins, hard or dry skins, exanthema, growth cracks, internal decline, red blotch, membranous stain, or other internal discoloration. Also free from damage caused by bruises, dry or mushy condition, scars, oil spots, scale, sunburn, hollow core, skin breakdown, melanoses, dirt, or other foreign material, other disease, insects, or other means. (g) Salad dressing, assorted, light or regular (blue cheese, French, Italian, ranch, and thousand islands) assorted individual packets or containers. No container larger than 16 fluid ounces can be provided. 2.7 Estimated delivery amounts. The Contractor shall provide products from the list below. The order will be delivered as per GR request. The government understands that certain items are seasonal. � a. Fresh fruits. (1) The fruits listed below have an issue factor of 12 lb. per 50 persons. (a) Apples. (b) Oranges. (c) Pears. (d) Plums. (2) Summer seasonal fresh are based on 50 persons. (a) Cantaloupes, 15 lb. (b) Honeydew, 15 lb. (c) Nectarines, 12 lb. (d) Watermelons, 18 lb. (e) Mangoes, 12 lb. (f) Pineapples, 18 lb. b. Salad Items. (1) Lettuce, 5lb. per 50 (2) Cucumbers, 2 lb. per 50 (3) Onions, yellow dry, peeled, 2 lb. per 50 (4) Radishes, fresh, red, 1/2 lb. per 50 (5) Spinach, fresh, ready-to-use, 2 lb. per 50 (6) Tomatoes, 6 lb. per 50 (7) Lemons, fresh, 2 lb. per 50 (8) Salad dressing, assorted, light or regular (blue cheese, French, Italian, ranch, and thousand islands) issue, 150 individual 7/16 oz packages.
