Description
RFIs Please verify the requirement that the Competent Person(s) must have taken or retaken their OSHA 30 Hour within the past 5 years. We will accept a 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety certificate, with their resume. Is parking available for contractors on-site? There will be a Construction Materials Laydown and Dumpster space allowed for the contractor, see the Laydown and Roof Access Options PowerPoint attached (one option or the other, not both). There will not be any additional parking spaces allowed for the contractor(s). Is there a lay-down area designated for this project? There will not be any additional parking spaces allowed for the contractor(s). Is there a designated area where we can stage a dumpster near this roof at the Main Entrance? There will not be any additional parking spaces allowed for the contractor(s). Will we have access to the Main Entrance circle to stage dumpsters, equipment, etc.? The circle must remain operational for the Veterans Administration, DAV and other organizational vehicles, the contractor must maintain safe construction operations concurrently during regular business hours. Will we be allowed to close of sections of the Front Entrance circle to allow for removing material from the roof, staging material on the roof, etc.? If so, please confirm if this can be done during regular business hours or if there will be time restrictions to do this. The circle must remain operational for the Veterans Administration, DAV and other organizational vehicles; the contractor must maintain safe construction operations concurrently during regular business hours. Front page of the drawings indicate intent is for construction in the summer of 2023 . Since summer has passed, is the intent for spring of 2024? Yes, the work will commence in spring 2024. It was observed during the walk-thru there is an existing roof leak near the expansion joint where the concrete roof deck meets the metal decking roof. This area is currently under construction with new finish materials being installed. If this roof work isn t to be done until the spring, is there any requirement to try and locate this leak & repair before the winter? If so, please clarify requirements. Yes, this area should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent damage to new construction. If work isn t going to be performed until the spring of 2024, will the government compensate for any material cost changes between now and then? No. Bidders are required to bid accordingly. Due to volatile material price fluctuations and unpredictability of the market, will the government agree to pay for Stored Materials on this project to avoid price increases post bid? Documentation of material invoice/packing slips, photo, and insurance backup information for each relevant charge would be provided. If material prices increase post award, will the government pay for those increases provided proof of increase is provided? No. Bidders are required to bid accordingly. Can the Economic Price Adjustment FARR clause be added to this contract due to continued fluctuations in material prices? No. Will the government agree to material increase cost adjustment requests (change orders) for suppliers for products subject to long submittal review periods, long lead times and/or general post-bid issues & delays? No. Bidders are required to bid accordingly. Is all lightning protection to be new or are we to re-use existing? New, not re-used. Is new flashing to be Blue or Silver/Grey to match new front entrance canopy? Match the existing color on each section. 11- Is all roof demolition debris going to need to come thru the facility/elevator, or will we have access to the oversize parking are to hoist materials onto and off?
