- Description & Salient Characteristics: The Fargo VA surgical department needs fusion plates tray and ankle fracture trays that will be used in orthopedics surgeries for VA patients. Salient Characteristics Brand Name Only = Arthrex MTP tray � MaxForce MPT plates all MaxForce MTP Plates allow surgeons to manually compress the fusion site by utilizing a hand compression device that is shaped like gear/cogwheel that sits down into a toothed track in the plate. The surgeon is then able to manually compress the joint to ensure good bony apposition which should lead to earlier union at the fusion site. This is the only plate in orthopedics that allows a surgeon to manually compress the joint. Additionally, there are a variety of in this set if a surgeon needs to do a variety of procedures at the same time. The locking screws in this set are called kreulock and are the only screws on the market that allow the screws to compress the plate down to bone or to compress across a fracture or osteotomy site while still locking into the plate. Ankle Fracture Tray - The ankle fracture tray is the most comprehensive ankle fracture tray available currently and allows surgeons to fix any number of fracture types utilizing and opening only one set. There are a variety of different fibular plates included. The trays offer a larger variety of plates and have unique instrumentation that often times eliminate the need to open additional sets The trays also offer a variety of screws within the tray. The locking screws in this set are also kreulock which are the only screws which can both compress the plate down to bone or compress a fracture under a plate, while still locking into the plate to form a more solid construct.
