- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, has a need for a construction contract to replace water lines at Rocky Branch Park in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The objective of this project is for the contractor to provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to replace an existing 3-inch water line along Rocky Branch Road. Rocky Branch Park is supplied water by Tuscaloosa County which is metered at the park property line. An existing 3-inch water line along Rocky Branch Road supplies the Day Use/Beach Area. The line tees and runs south along a road to the boat ramp. Multiple pressure reducing valves (PRVs) are located along the water line to reduce system pressure increases associated with the park?s elevation changes. The existing water line will be abandoned in place. Existing valve boxes and appurtenance manholes will have tops removed and be demolished and filled 12? belowgrade. Road crossings will require the removal and replacement of roadway base and asphalt. A sidewalk crossing will require the removal and replacement of concrete. Asphalt, gravel, and concrete patch work is shown in the construction plans and specific. In areas where the new water line will be installed along the same side of the road as the existing, removal of the existing water line and appurtenances might need to be performed. Removed water line and appurtenances will be disposed of in accordance with local code and/or statute. Any water service shutdown for water line removals must be coordinated with the Government. Water service shall be maintained between Labor day and Memorial Day.
