- The Air Force Security Forces Center (AFSFC) has been tasked to assess the viability for an enterprise level purchase of duty gloves for use by members of the AFSFC during the work day. Duty gloves are used Air Force wide for a wide variety of duties including tasks of dexterity as well as heavy duty tasks that could cause wearing to the gloves. These gloves must be able to handle varied tasks in a wide range of environments and situations including hazards from impacts, environmental and cutting. This request is to assess the viability and impact of purchasing gloves on an enterprise level to meet the needs of the Air Force. In order to be sufficiently rugged the glove must be retain all of the following salient characteristics. For any questions regarding the flexibility of these characteristics, please send in a response with your questions.� Be primarily Tan 499, Coyote Tan in color or black Palm area shall be constructed of leather and lined with Kevlar material for abrasion and puncture resistance The remainder should be constructed� of a flame resistant material Lightweight design for maximum dexterity, leather knuckle patch for added protection, lightweight mechanics and tactical glove, goat skin leather palm with nylon stretch back Have a hook and loop closure to secure the glove around the wearer�s wrist Have a dual-purpose pull tab on each glove that assists in donning the gloves as well as allowing for the gloves to be connected together for safekeeping/storage. Note: these tabs should not present an unnecessary snag/pull hazard during wear/use Have five unisex sizes delineated as the following: Extra-Small (XS), Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L), Extra-Large (XL). The total range of sizes should accommodate wearers with the following sizes. The widest point of the hand (circumference): 5.5 to 10.5 inches, base of palm to tip of longest finger (length): 6 to 9 inches and across the palm at intersection of thumb and index finger (width): 2.8 to 5 inches. Be compliant with DFARS 252.225-7012 Preference for Certain Domestic Commodities (Berry Amendment) The current estimated quantities that will be required will be spread throughout the year and are broken down as follows. Please note these are first estimates and could change throughout the process. However the current annual need will be estimated at 7600 pairs of gloves.� Military (Tan 499/Coyote Tan) Small: �1,200 Medium: 1,700 Large: �1,717 Extra Large:� 1,627 Extra Extra Large: 596 Civilian (Black) Small: 125 Medium: 176 Large: 225 Extra Large: 145 Extra Extra Large: 89
