- ART IN ARCHITECTURE PROJECT GSA Contract for Artist Services PCS Classification: R499 NAICS: 711510 Description: The General Services Administration (GSA) Art in Architecture Program commissions American artists (citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents or Permanent Workers of the United States) to create publicly scaled and permanently installed artworks for federal buildings nationwide. GSA announces an opportunity for a federal art commission in conjunction with the limited-scope construction project for Building 53 at the Denver Federal Center in Lakewood, Colorado. GSA will modernize the federal building to meet the needs of its tenants: Department of the Interior, Veterans Health Administration, U.S. Geological Survey, Department of Labor, and Department of Homeland Security. This modernization project is a pivotal undertaking in extending the life of the building. It will include the design and construction of a new, high-performance green building, modernization of interiors for a high-performance workplace utilizing design, construction, and operational excellence including a new entrance and landscaping, as well as the replacement or upgrade of outdated mechanical and electrical systems. GSA generally allocates one-half of one percent of the estimated construction costs for new or modernized federal buildings for art commissions. One or more artists will be awarded a fixed-price contract for a commission. Artists who wish to be considered for this and all future GSA art commissions must submit application materials to GSAs National Artists Registry (Registry). The Registry constitutes the qualified list of artists for this and all GSA commissions. Instructions on how to join the Registry are available on the following website: www.gsa.gov/artinarchitecture GSA evaluates artists based on the following criteria: the media, materials, content, style, and scope of the artists past work, along with the artists past performance and experience with commissions or projects similar to the one described in this synopsis. Short-listed artists will be contacted and asked to submit additional information, including a price proposal. GSA has determined that the combined weight of all the technical selection criteria is significantly more important than price. At a minimum, the scope of services for this commission will require: collaboration with the lead-design architect selected for the building project; development of preliminary and final artists concepts; fabrication of the artwork; participation in meetings and conservation reviews as necessary; and the installation of the artwork at the project site in Indianapolis, Indiana. **This is an update to a previously issued solicitation (Notice ID: AIAB53DFC). This is an award notice.** On August 15, 2023, the Building 53 Art in Architecture contract was awarded to: Julie W Chang 3537 21st Street San Francisco, CA 94414-3026 The base contract was awarded at $44,500.00.
