Project Oak Bottom Compound Deck Replacement General Information 1.0 Background The decks, porches, railings, and stairs at the Oak Bottom Compound have suffered severe weather damage and dry rot. There are blackberry bushes and other plants and trees that have grown into and through the decks and railings. This has caused the decks, railings, and stairs to be compromised and are unsafe to use. The entryway porches have loose and missing deck boards and stair treads. The decks also have missing planks and some of the planking is too weak to stand on. 2.0 Scope of Work Cut back and de-brush all overgrowth of bushes, berry vines and small trees. Remove all decking, railings, stairs and any compromised framing and foundations of the existing decks and dispose of the debris off forest service property in a legal land fill or recycling facility. Repair any compromised areas of deck framing and foundations prior to installing the decks, railings, and stairways. Site Visit There will be no pre-bid site tour, however it is strongly advised that the Contractor thoroughly investigate the site to determine the full extent of the work and the quantities of materials needed. To make an appointment for a site visit contact Jerry McCluskey on the Six Rivers National Forest at (707) 672-3217.
