Description
Intent to Award A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT to Illumina for NextSeq 1000 sequencer. THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Joint Administrative Operations, Acquisition & Property Operations, Legacy Region 9. USFWS intends to award a firm fixed price sole source contract for under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 only one responsible source to: Illumina, Inc 5200 Illumina Way San Diego CA 92122-4616 The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 334516, analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The object of this sole source award to Illumina, Inc. is it being the only sequencers capable of handling next-gen reads of 2x300bp with high accuracy (>99%). WGL follows the protocol developed at NEFC, and maintains a cross-lab validation of a subset of samples for the Early Detection and Monitoring Program in Region 3, therefore results must not only be consistent across labs (NEFC and WGL use an Illumina MiSeq for lower output requirements), WGL would still need to perform additional laboratory validations, compare results against current performance, and would then need to perform additional cross-laboratory validations. This additional testing would significantly delay results of this mission critical project. Currently there are no other sequencers capable of the performance required by the protocols outlined above. This synopsis does not constitute a solicitation; however, if any interested party believes they can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities must be submitted in writing and must contain clear and convincing evidence that competition of this requirement would be advantageous to the Government. If parties choose to respond, any cost associated with preparation and submission of data or any other cost incurred in response to this announcement are the sole responsibility of the respondent and will not be reimbursed by the Government. Capability statements shall be submitted by e-mail ONLY as a Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF attachment to the following address: Renee_ Babineau@fws.gov. NO TELEPHONE REQUESTS/OFFERS WILL BE HONORED NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE FOR Whitney Genetics Lab NextSeq 1000 sequencer TO Illumina, Inc
