Description
National Center for Organization Development (NCOD) Request for Information This market research effort is being conducted for the National Center for Organization Development (NCOD) for access to the copyrighted Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is dedicated to providing Veterans with world-class services. As we define new and better ways to serve, our ability to achieve intended outcomes depends on how well we engage employees in these efforts. Burnout is a multifaceted type of job stress where an individual experiences physical, emotional, or mental exhaustion along with doubt about the value of contributions at work.  Unfortunately, employee burnout can negatively impact intended outcomes for Veterans with unintended consequences such as employee apathy, call-outs and turn-over.  Giving employees the ability to respond to and gauge their level of burnout provides an opportunity to address potential issues and problems before they become a reality. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is designed to assess the three aspects of the burnout syndrome: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and lack of personal accomplishment. Each aspect is measured by a separate subscale. The Emotional Exhaustion (EE) subscale assesses feelings of being emotionally overextended and exhausted by one s work. The Depersonalization (DP) subscale measures an unfeeling and impersonal response toward recipients of one s service, care, treatment, or instruction. The Personal Accomplishment (PA) subscale assesses feelings of competence and successful achievement in one s work with people. Burnout is conceptualized as a continuous variable, ranging from low to moderate to high degrees of experienced feeling. The contractor shall provide access to their copyrighted MBI for NCOD to use.
