Description

This is NOT a solicitation. This is a notification of an intent to award a single source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-l(a)(2) - NAICS code 334290, Product Service Code J034. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Detroit District in Detroit, Michigan will solicit and award a purchase order to Siemens Industry, Inc. (Siemens), the manufacturer of the Siemens 828D CNC panel processing unit (PPU) for the warranty repair labor. The Siemens PPU is located on a Summit Machine Tool HTM4-S horizontal boring mill located at St. Mary�s Falls Canal, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.� Siemens will provide the labor necessary to complete the warranty repair. Only Siemens is able to perform the warranty repair of the PPU without voiding any of the other equipment warranties. No other sources for this service will satisfy agency requirements for the function without rendering the warranty of the other parts in the machine void. This presents increased cost risk to the Government if any other parts were to break. In addition, an unqualified technician making the repair could result in further damage to the machine or its calibration. The Government believes that only one responsible source can provide this requirement. The statutory authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(l), only one source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. If firms believe they have the technical capability to meet this need, submit a technical capability statement along with business profile to Kari Tauriainen at Kari.Tauriainen@usace.army.mil within seven (7) calendar days of this notice. Any information received will be treated as market research information towards future similar or same requirements. Quotations or proposals received in response to this notice will not be accepted since the synopsis is not a request for proposal.
