- Great Smoky Mountains NP REHAB BALSAM/HEINTOOGA WASTEWATER ACTION: Pre-Solicitation Notice PRE-SOLICITATION NUMBER: 140P5323R0015 CLASSIFICATION CODE: Z1NE � MAINTENANCE OF SEWAGE AND WASTE FACILITIES The NAICS Code for this requirement is 237110 � Water and Sewer Line Related Structures with a size standard of $39.5 million. POINT OF CONTACT: Geraldine Larsen, Contract Specialist, geralding_larsen@nps.gov PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: Great Smoky Mountains National Park PLACE OF PERFORMANCE POSTAL CODE: Cherokee, NC 28719 PLACE OF PERFORMANCE STATE AND COUNTY: North Carolina, Swain County Title of Project: Wastewater/Water Line Replacement Project Balsam Mountain Campground/Heintooga Picnic Area Description: National Park Service, Balsam Mountain Campground Wastewater Collection System has the need for a contractor to pipe burst the existing 6-inch wastewater collection system; and replace it with new 8"" HDPE sewer lines. The existing manholes will be replaced where noted on the plans. Septic and Dosing Tanks, in addition to the pipe replacement, the septic tank and dosing tank will be serviced and partially refurbished. New access castings and dosing pumps are to be provided. Grading and Drainage Improvements, there is a drainage channel located above the eastern sand filter that is to direct stormwater runoff around the sand filter, which has been breached. The drainage channel and the area above it needs to be re-graded to divert stormwater around the filter. The scope of work includes replacing the existing 2-inch waterline to the Heintooga Picnic Area; and the 4-inch PVC waterline to the Balsam Mountain Campground with new High-density Polyethylene (HDPE) waterlines. The 2-inch water services to the existing Comfort Stations will also be replaced with 2-inch HDPE waterlines. The service lines will be installed up to the existing valve boxes outside of the Comfort Stations. The valve and box for the Comfort Stations will also be replaced as part of this work. The 3/4-inch service lines from the main to the original drinking fountains are also included in the scope of work. The service lines to the Ranger Station will be completely replaced all the way to the building, including all pipe, valves, and valve boxes.
