Description

The U.S. Army Contracting Command � Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG), Aberdeen Proving Ground, Natick Contracting Division, in support of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command � Soldier Center (DEVCOM-SC) intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract on a sole source basis to JEOL USA, located at 11 Dearborn Rd, Peabody, MA, 01960-3862, under the authority as prescribed in FAR 13.106(b)(1).� The requirement is for a maintenance service contract for the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). This maintenance service contract for the JEOL USA manufactured JEOL 2010 FasTEM Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) provides necessary maintenance service coverage for the 20+ year old instrument, which includes an annual preventative maintenance service visit as well as unlimited emergency service visits. The TEM is a high precision electron microscope used in support of materials research that require atom-scale image resolution of samples.� Any required replacement parts are protected under patents and not available otherwise.� Servicing and preventative maintenance actions require access to detailed factory level and design level schematics; should serious repairs be necessary they are accessible only to JEOL USA personnel due to Patent and Trade Secret coverage. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 334516 and the size standard is 1000 employees. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS.
