- Description
- Breeding and Genotype Service for the Department of Perioperative Medicine NIH Clinical Center (CC) Product Service Code: 6640 NAICS Code: 112990 Place of Performance: Bethesda, MD 20892 POTS: 23-005395 Description This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued, and quotations will not be requested. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed price contract for a one-time service to Mirimus, Inc. Brooklyn, NY on a sole source basis for the Department of Perioperative Medicine at the NIH Clinical Center (CC). This service is part of a continued project to breed and genotype transgenic rats to study the TRPV1 receptor. This will aid in establishing the axon trajectories of TRPV1+ neurons innervating skin and organs with nociceptive capabilities. Mirimus Inc. has been working with the lab to generate a novel transgenic rat expressing a TRPV1-fusion protein reporter construct under the endogenous TRPV1 promoter to trace the expression of TRPV1 in vivo. This will allow for detailed molecular analysis of TRPV1 expression in afferent nerve endings innervating organ systems and skin to trace nociceptive fibers in unprecedented details in the rat. This has strong translational implications as these fibers are responsible for most clinical pain responses and are generally the target of many successful analgesic regiments. This includes an ongoing effort by the lab to target TRPV1 + afferents in humans as part of ongoing phase 1 trials of resiniferatoxin for refractory pain. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing this posting number, may be submitted to the CC, Office of Purchasing and Contracts, prior to the closing date specified in this announcement, electronically to the attention of Shasheshe Goolsby, Contract Specialist, shasheshe.goolsby@nih.gov by May 28, 2023 at 3:00PM EST.
