The U/S Mentor offers a multidisciplinary, realistic hands-on training for the ever-growing utilization of ultrasound in medicine especially at point of care (POC) setting. It provides residents, fellows, and practicing physicians an opportunity to acquire and improve their sonography-related skills on a variety of virtual patients. The simulator is designed to provide the optimal educational environment to reach and demonstrate competency levels. The following features are unique to the Simbionix Ultrasound Mentor: 1. Step by Step Educational Tasks. Users are tested on their ability to obtain a number of standard views in bedside echo, eFAST, and TEE. Once the standard view is correctly identified, the user is asked to correctly identify the anatomy. Performance is captured throughout the procedure providing a detailed report to the instructor. 2. Clinical Findings Submission Based off the Case. Users competency level will be monitored by their ability to correctly identify and diagnose each clinical case. Clinical virtual cases are based upon real patients, ranging from normal through slightly abnormal to distinct pathologies. The user s input will be compared with the actual findings in the performance reports at the end of the case. 3. Captured Views Compared to Gold Standard Views. During the case the user has the ability freeze and save views. In the metric report and the end of the case, the user s images will be compared to a gold standard image. It will also state what anatomical structures were correctly captured or missing. 4. Severity Customization. Before a user starts the case, they have the option to set the level of the severity of the pathology. This is available in all e-FAST cases, all abdominal cases, some TEE and some Transvaginal. 5. Basic and Advanced Sonography and Knobolgy Skills. A unique module designed to develop ultrasonographic psychomotor skills and ultrasound image acquisition capabilities. This module includes 3 different tasks, aimed at hand-eye coordination skill enhancement and ultrasound image controls. The purpose of this innovative module is to aid in mastering the essential ultrasonographic skills, which are an essential basis for various ultrasound examinations and techniques. 6. All in one touch screen computer.
