Description
NASA/ Kennedy Space Center (KSC) has a requirement for the procurement of Self-Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) fabric.� This fabric is used to make SCAPE suits, which are also referred to as Propellant Handler�s Ensembles (PHE).� The SCAPE suit is a garment which is worn to protect personnel engaged in the handling of oxidizers and hypergolic propellants.� The suit is designed to minimize the risk involved when performing necessary functions in a potentially hazardous environment both by liquid contact and vapor penetration. �The suit material is a chlorobutyl rubber coated ""Nomex"" aramid fabric.� NASA/KSC requires 450 linear yards of the Chlorobutyl/Nomex supported material and 300 linear yards of Chlorobutyl unsupported material.� It must meet the following requirements: Part Number:�������������� YX1003ZOC019 (Chlorobutyl/Nomex supported) Characteristics:� �������� Gauge: .019� Width:� 39� Color:� White/Gray Containing no TRIS properties Conforming to MIL-C-38-149A Quantity:�������������������� 450 linear yards Part Number: ������������ YS0023ZOC025 (Chlorobutyl � Unsupported) Characteristics:� �������� Gauge: 0.025� Width: 36� Color: White Containing no TRIS properties Conforming to Fairprene Standard Quality Quantity:�������������������� 300 linear yards NASA/KSC intends to issue a sole source contract to acquire the items from Trelleborg Coated Systems US, Inc., under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Michael Wheeler, michael.j.wheeler@nasa.gov no later than 2:00pm Eastern Daylight Time on February 24, 2023.� Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis.� A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
