Description
Purpose of Conference: The objective of the research festival is to provide an intensive training experience for NHLBI fellows in research presentation skills and networking. The retreat will be accomplished in three different formats. The first is through oral presentations. Selected fellows will present their research to those in attendance through three or five minute pitch sessions and receive feedback on their research as well as their oral presentation skills. Other fellows will present their research in poster format, which is the major format at most scientific meetings. They will learn to present their research one-on-one to those attendants who visit their poster as well as to the poster judges, normally NHLBI investigators. Finally, we will have a presentation from an invited speaker who is a leader in their field who will provide valuable information as well as the opportunity to network with our fellows. The pandemic did not allow for the annual conference during 2020, 2021, and 2022. Holding the 2023 conference will allow new and current fellows to discover the active and bustling scientific community at NIH. Exposing fellows to scientific lectures by leaders in the science field and providing them an opportunity to network. The Research Retreat enables fellows to enhance their own scientific work at NIH, increase productivity of their lab research and benefit the NIHs reputation for innovative scientific advancement, which directly supports the mission of the NHLBI DIR to perform robust scientific and clinical research leading to a better understanding of science. This event will be held onFriday 3/31/2023. We will be requiring 185 day meeting packages. There will need to be space for 185 people to gather as long as having two separate spaces for break out rooms. 1.1.
