- Description
- PRE-SOLICITATION/ADVERTISEMENT ONLY, THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. THIS PROJECT WILL BE SENT OUT AS A CALL ORDER FOR THE LAND MANAGEMENT INTEGRATED RESOURCES (LMIR) BPA. INTERESTED CONTRACTORS NEED TO BE ON THE LMIR BPA CONTRACTOR POOL. FOR MORE DETAILS REGARDING THIS BPA, SEARCH '12363N23Q4023' ON SAM.GOV. Call orders for this will be sent out to contractors on the LMIR BPA tentatively late winter/early spring 2023. General Overview: This survey is part of a larger prescribed burn project located within the Rodeo-Chediski wildfire area. The Rodeo-Chediski Fire consumed 166,400 acres of National Forest System land in 2002. Work in the survey units consists of inventorying 4,690 acres within the Rodeo-Chediski burn area, recording isolated occurrences and new sites, and monitoring or re-recording previously recorded sites within and adjacent to the survey area on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs). An inventory report, GIS data entry, and data entry into the Heritage NRM Database will be required for this project. The purpose of the Rodeo-Chediski Prescribed Fire Project is to remove noxious weeds and improve elk and deer habitat. The primary project activity will be prescribed burning. Heavy equipment may be used to construct dozer line, open or maintain roads, and construct safety zones. Hand tools may be used to construct hand line and be used for hand thinning activities. The project will also include thinning trees to move forest stand densities to improve forest health, promote large tree development, and reduce the risk of a stand replacing- crown fire. Landings will be constructed, haul roads will be maintained and temporary roads and skid trails will be constructed within the survey area. Pile-burning and reforestation activities including seeding and replanting, are expected to occur. The project may include a variety of watershed improvements, wildlife habitat improvements, and other transportation improvements to help meet desired conditions identified in the Forest Plan for vegetation, wildlife, and watersheds within the Rodeo-Chediski burn area.
