Description
The Defense Health Agency (DHA) Southeast Contracting Division intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 13.501(a) sole source acquisitions). The proposed source is Staar Surgical Company (Staar), 25651 Atlantic Ocean DR, Lake Forest, CA 92630. The requirement is for a supply contract for FDA approved lenses for the Ophthalmology Department at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune (NMCCL).� This requirement is for the consumable lenses needed in surgery to be shipped on the �Ship 2 Return 1 Program� offered by Staar Surgical during regular working hours (700 to 1600 Monday through Friday). The lens not used in surgery will be returned within 45 days of the original request date to Staar.� The lenses required are a new breathable lens that can be used with no pre-operative laser procedure that was required with the previous generation of lenses.� The command has targeted 90 patients to implant 2 lenses per patient to equal 180 lenses total a year. The government anticipates ordering no more than 100 lenses that range in powers from -3 to -16 in .50 increments with lengths of 12.1, 12.6, 13.2 and 13.7.� In addition, the government anticipates ordering no more than 80 lenses that range in powers from -3 to -16 in .50 increments with lengths of 12.1, 12.6, 13.2 and 13.7. This lens also has a second correction from 1.0 to 4.0 in � increments. Anticipated delivery dates starting in April.� Two (2) option periods are anticipated.� There are not set-aside restrictions for this requirement.� The intended procurement will be classified under North America Industry Classification System (NAICS) 339115 - Ophthalmic Goods Manufacturing.� This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for this requirement.� However, parties interested in responding to this notice will need to submit technical data sufficient to determine capability in providing the same product.� All capability statements received by the closing date of this synopsis will be considered by the Government.� A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.� Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
