- USAID/Tunisia's economic development strategy focuses on private sector-led growth and employment.� The Mission�s Economic Growth Office (EGO) manages a large and complex portfolio of contracts valued at $210 million to advance economic reform, accelerate private sector-led employment, improve the competitiveness of small businesses, expand trade, increase investments and access to finance, support innovation, develop the tourism and energy sectors, and equip Tunisians for private sector employment.� EGO plans to double the number of staff by next year. � In the clean energy sector, EGO has a large and complex contract to strengthen the sector�s performance, diversify and secure renewable energy supply, attract investment, accelerate firm-level adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions, and advance new technologies in partnership with the private sector.� EGO also has an inter-agency agreement with DOE National Renewable Energy Labs (NREL) to advance renewable energy and energy efficiencies targets, build Tunisia�s capacity for grid modernizations and clean energy integration, and complement strategic planning and technical assistance interventions.� EGO works closely with donors and the private sector to leverage technical expertise, accelerate innovation, foster reforms, and mobilize capital resources for new technologies and technical approaches.� This solicitation is seeking a qualified expert level Senior Energy and Private Sector Advisor position to be performed at the USAID/Tunisia Mission in Tunis, Tunisia. The successful candidate must be a US citizen (or resident alien) or Third Country National.� The Senior Advisor will manage a large and complex portfolio of private sector and energy contracts. S/he serves as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) or Activity Manager and provides technical and programmatic expertise and leadership on the mobilization, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of projects. S/he also provides technical and programmatic expertise and leadership on the mobilization, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of EGO�s energy activities and serves as the Mission�s technical expert on private sector development and clean energy. Through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training, the Senior Advisor helps build the contract management, private sector engagement, and technical expertise and skills of new EGO staff.� S/he builds and maintains close and effective working relationships with USG, the host government, multilateral and bilateral organizations, donors, civil society, and the private sector. S/he catalyzes relationships with public and private sector stakeholders to develop and implement approaches to scale and sustain development outcomes. The Senior Energy and Private Sector Advisor provides strategic guidance and programmatic advice to EGO and leads and contributes to interagency coordination.� Based in Tunis, Tunisia, s/he is a senior technical member of USAID Tunisia and reports to the EGO Director.
