Description
Block 14 Continued: The purpose of this amendment is to provide responses to the questions (RFI #2): The following questions are in regards to the Fort Harrison VA, Radiology Rm. 121 Renovations Project: 1. Site photos and further inspection during site walk indicates there is the presence of black mastic under existing floor tile. Will the VA consider leaving existing tile in place and overlaying existing tile with new specified LVT? Please confirm if contractor is to abate or overlay and encapsulated with new flooring Response: We want to encapsulate as much as possible but need to keep uniformity w/ the adjacent space to prevent any safety issues w/ an uneven surface. 2. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements updating w/ new flooring & casework . There is no reference on drawings regarding casework other than the previous statement above in the SOW. Is there casework for this project? Staff referenced filing cabinets during site walk that could be purchased by the VA. Please advise. Response: Please delete this requirement for casework. 3. There is an existing cooling unit located within the space specifically cools radiology equipment in the office by blowing cool air under the floor to vent at various locations. a. Given that the raised floor will be removed please confirm the cooling unit will no longer be needed and removed by contractor. Discussions with GE representative indicated that current equipment would be fine providing that a room temperature of 70 degrees or less could be maintained for the equipment in the space. Response: Confirmed, cooling unit to be removed. b. Please clarify if a new unit is required for this space? If so, please provide the specific equipment and ducting layouts for Room 121. Response: A new split unit will be required. This should be a simple selection for a pair of chill water-cooled unit (either wall cassette or fan coil type). c. Please confirm the design will be the responsibility of the VA. Response: VA will provide specifications. 4. Does the space require new ceiling and grid? Previous remodeling project have included up grade of the ceiling grid as all other finishes in space will be updated. Please advise. Response: New ceiling grid will be required. Also, include upgrade lighting w/ dimmable led fixtures. 5. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements Wall and floor finishes will be updated to align with the recommended standards in the Design Guide, walls will meet a level 4 finish and the floors will be a LVT that meets the approved VA finish schedule (provided upon request). Answers to previous RFI questions regarding flooring reference both LVT and Welded Seamless Flooring for the control room area. It is GCH s understanding that the station has been ion the process of standardizing finishes in the space to minimize the number of products for replacement. Past renovation projects have included Armstrong Natural Creations LVT for the floor upgrades. Please confirm this is the desired product or provide specific alternate product. Response: Confirmed Armstrong Natural Creations LVT for the floor upgrades.
