Description
Block 14 Continued: The purpose of this amendment is to provide responses to the questions (RFI) received and to add attachments associated with responses. The following questions are in regards to the Fort Harrison VA, Radiology Rm. 121 Renovations Project: 1. Will the VA consider issuing an additional site visit time and date? Response: Yes as we deemed extremely important that Contractor s have a  great understanding of the requirement. 2. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements The asbestos will be abated if necessary : a. Please confirm the contractor is to only carry a price for asbestos testing and general demolition of the existing floor tile. Response: Correct.  Abatement will be required is Contractor cannot encapsulate and place new tile on top or old. b. Please confirm abatement for the floor tile will be a change order to the project. Response: In order to avoid Change Orders, contractor to include the abatement cost as a CLIN item. 3. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements updating w/ new flooring & casework : a. Please provide a description or shop drawing of the b. Please provide measurements new casework or new casework c. Please provide surface requirements for new casework d. Is the new case work to be custom fabricated? If not Please provide manufacturer make and models for new case work Response: Please refer to the attached Design Guide for imaging services for casework requirements. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements Wall and floor finishes will be updated to align with the recommended standards in the Design Guide, walls will meet a level 4 finish and the floors will be a LVT that meets the approved VA finish schedule (provided upon request). a. Please provide the approved VA finish schedule for Room 121. b. Please provide the specific section of the VA design guide to ensure the correct standards are used. Response: Please refer to the attached Design Guide for imaging services for casework requirements. https://www.cfm.va.gov/til/dGuide.asp 5. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements The existing electrical and data cables will be routed overhead from the room to the machine room. a. Please provide conduit requirements for both cable and electrical Response: Conduit size same as existing.  See attached photo. b. Please provide the number of data/electrical cables to be rerouted. Response: Four data/electrical cables to be rerouted. (See photo named response #5b in Photos attachment) c. Will electrical outlets and comm Jacks be required? If so, please provide the number of outlets/jacks required? Response: Negative.  Connections already existing. 6. SOW indicates that all work must be completed after hours. Since the Radiology Equipment will be inoperable during the renovation can the work take place during normal business hours? Response: Yes. The intent for working after hours was for rapid completion and turn around of space. Once timeline is develop, close coordination w/ end user will be required. 7. Based on the site photos and site visit there appears to be black mastic under the existing floor tile. Does the VA want the contractor to include abatement in their pricing or would the VA consider leaving the existing tile in place and overlaying it with the new specified LVT? Response: Preference is to not disturb and overlay the existing tiles with the new specified LVT. However, if there will be any type of disturbance of the existing tile, abatement will be required. 8. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements updating w/ new flooring & casework : a. Please provide a description or shop drawing of the new casework b. Please provide measurements new casework or new casework c. Please provide surface requirements for new casework d. Is the new case work to be custom fabricated? If not Please provide manufacturer make and models for new case work Response: Casework to be installed as needed as per the contractor s recommendations. Casework to match existing. 9. There is an existing cooling unit located within the space that specifically cools the radiology equipment in the office by blowing cool air under the floor to vent at various locations. a. Given that the raised floor will be removed please confirm the cooling unit will no longer be needed and removed by contractor. Response: Correct. Unit to be removed by contractor. (See photos named response #9a in Photos attachment) b. If the new cooling is needed will the existing cooling unit be re-used or will a new cooling unit be required? Response: New unit will be required to provide cooling to the UPS/Main Server room.  Unless contractor is able to tie in into the existing HVAC duct system. c. If a new cooling unit is required please provide a equipment schedule/list with manufacturer, size, type, etc for the new unit. Response: Will coordinate sizing w/ contractor. 10. There was a heat detector located under raised floor. Does this detector get relocated into ceiling? Response: Negative. 11. Does the space require new ceiling and grid? Response: Only in the areas where the new conduit will be installed and if the diffuser/supply vents are relocated. 12. Supply and return locations seem to not be laid out in appropriate positions for maximum efficiency. Will there be any requirement to relocate supply and return diffusers? Response: Yes, please provide a more efficient solution. 13. Response: Wall Finish: m: GWB f:P Wainscot: -- Base: m: WSF / RSF at h: 4 (100mm) WSF: Welded Seamless Flooring/ RSF: : Resilient Sheet Flooring Floor Finish: WSF / RSF b. Please provide the specific section of the VA design guide to ensure the correct standards are used. Response: PG 18-12 IMAGING SERVICES DESIGN GUIDE CHAPTER 295 - Class 1 Radiology Imaging Room, Imgng Svcs (CI011) ARCHITECTURAL & INTERIOR DESIGN 14. Reference solicitation page 5 of 43 General Contractor Requirements The existing electrical and data cables will be routed overhead from the room to the machine room. a. Please provide conduit requirements for both cable and electrical Response: Refer to the current version of Electrical Design Manual section 2.1.5 for general electrical requirement. (See photo named response #14 in Photos attachment) b. Are surface mounted receptacle and conduit acceptable? Response: Yes but contractor should try, as much as possible, to conceal for a professional appearance. 15. Please provide ICRA requirements. Response: Type B, Small-scale, short duration activities that create minimal dust and debris/Medium Risk 16. SOW indicates that the contractor is responsible for removing the existing furniture and returning it once completed. It is assumed this refers to desks, work stations etc. Due to liability reasons, we are requesting that GE and the VA disconnect equipment for removal. Please confirm the VA will coordinate disconnection of equipment with GE. Response: Contractor will need to remove ALL non-GE specific equipment. GVT will coordinate w/ GE for the disconnect/reconnect of the x-ray equipment. 17. Please confirm there is no flooring requirements in X-ray lab 122. Response: Confirmed. A new transition to X-Ray Lab 122 will be required. This should be a low profile transition to avoid making it a trip hazard. (See photo named response #12 in Photos attachment)
