- Introduction Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Direct and Time Sensitive Strike Program Office (PMA-242) intends to award a sole source follow-on IDIQ contract to FN HERSTAL, S.A., Herstal, Belgium for the procurement of GAU-21 .50 caliber machine guns and required ancillary support equipment. It does not constitute a solicitation and shall not be construed as a commitment by the government. Responses in any form are not offers and the government is under no obligation to award a contract as a result of this announcement. No funds are available to pay for preparation of responses to this announcement. Any information submitted by respondents to this technical description is strictly voluntary. Contract/Program Background Existing Contract Number �N00019-19-D-0016 Contract Type � Firm-Fixed Price Incumbent � FN HERSTAL, S.A. Was the work previously set-aside? No Required Capabilities The effort will include the procurement of .50 Caliber Machine Gun System, Medium Pintle Heads, 5K Periodic Replacement Part (PRP) kits and 10K PRP kits, to be built at the contractor�s facility.� Procurements will be over a 5 year period.� The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of GAU-21, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience, and tooling to produce the requirements described herein to satisfy the Government's requirement. No other source has the technical qualification and necessary resources to perform the work described herein, nor will any other supplies or services satisfy the Government's requirements. The result of this Sources Sought will be utilized to determine if the required supplies or services exist in the marketplace and if any Small Business Set-Aside opportunities exist.� All Small Business Set-Aside categories will be considered.� Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 30 days after the posting of this sources sought. Eligibility The Applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 332994. The Product Service Code (PSC) is 1005. Submission Details Interested businesses should submit a brief capabilities statement package demonstrating the ability to perform the required capabilities.
