Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is offering for sale two (2) item of timber on approximately One Hundred Fourteen (419) acres total located within Fort Drum, Jefferson County, NY of which approximately the following volumes to be harvested: The Item 1 and Item 2 are being sold per unit harvested timber will be sold by WEIGHT & any sawlogs paid on Fort Drum Sliding Scale ITEM 1 (TA 17C) - Harvest Operation Dates 16 October - 15 April All 272 (will be less than this) acres SHALL be harvested by 31 August 2024. Contractor may skid up to 15 May as long as operations do not stop for more than 7 consecutive days after 15 April. Tree cutting allowed from 16 October - 15 April. Skidding and processing will be allowed after 15 April as long as work does not stop for more than 7 days. Trees to be harvested are not marked.� Contractor will leave a residual tree every 25-30 feet and cut all other woody stems 1"" DBH and greater.� Leave trees will be chosen based on good form, healthy appearance, and species.� Longer lived hardwood and softwood species will be favored to leave (maple, cherry, oak, white pine, hemlock, etc.).� Shorter lived species (aspen, gray birch) will be favored to cut.� The boundaries of the harvest areas are marked with blue ""Timber Harvest Boundary"" flagging.� There is the option for up to 2 landing locations. Purchaser SHALL avoid off limits cultural sites, which are identified in the field with pink/black striped flagging. Ground conditions are generally well drained along ridges, and slightly more poorly drained in between ridges. Landing size and location will be designated by installation forester. There is a chipping requirement for this harvest. No known metal contamination, but still possible ITEM 2 (TA 7C) - Harvest Operation Dates 16 October - 15 April All 147 acres SHALL be harvested by 31 August 2024. Contractor may skid up to 15 May as long as operations do not stop for more than 7 consecutive days after 15 April. Tree cutting allowed from 16 October - 15 April. Skidding and processing will be allowed after 15 April as long as work does not stop for more than 7 days. Trees to be harvested are marked with BLUE paint. The boundaries of the harvest areas are marked with blue ""Timber Harvest Boundary"" flagging.� There is the option for up to 2 landing locations.
