VA-SOUTHERN OREGON REHABILITATION CENTER AND CLINICS CHAPLAIN SERVICE White City, Oregon Statement of Work The Chaplain Service is requesting the service of a Pianist/Song Leader for Sunday Worship Services (Protestant and Catholic) and, on as needed basis, the Funeral and Memorial Services. Justification: This facility focuses on the integral rehabilitation and health care of veterans. Essential to the Plan for Provision of Veteran is providing the spiritual and religious needs of the residents, veterans and their families. It is the goal of the Chaplain Service to make the worship service meaningful and faith-filled through conscious, full and active participation of the people present. Music/Singing plays a very important function in this kind of celebration. These past years, the Chaplain Service has been blessed with volunteers who played on both Worship Services. However, the music provided during services was dependent on the volunteer. The Chaplain would like to ensure that the Veterans will always have the atmosphere of good worship service to help them in their spiritual life. Type of Service: The Pianist/Song Leader is expected to do the following: Coordinate with the Chaplains in-charge of the Worship Services to select appropriate songs for each worship service. Practice the songs with the members of the congregation for active participation. Lead the congregation with the singing of the appropriate and selected songs. Play the piano or other instruments to accompany the singing of the songs. Schedule of Service: The Pianist/Song Leader is expected to serve on the following times: Sundays: 8:30a.m. Protestant Service (Weekly) 10:30a.m. Catholic Mass (Weekly) As needed: Funeral/Memorial Services Christmas, Holy Week, other Holy Days of Obligation Cost-effectiveness of authorizing this rate: This fee basis provider plays music during the service as a way of worship thus accepting a lower rate than other professional musicians. Paying per service or as needed basis is also less expensive.
