Description
The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Butner, North Carolina, intends to issue to the current contractor a firm-fixed price, Sole Source purchase order to University of Massachusetts, 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester, MA 01655-0122. �This non-competitive action is being issued by the Federal Correctional Complex, Butner, NC for the period of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023. �The Federal Correctional Complex has need for Radiation Physicist services in FCC Butner Medical Department. �The Government has determined that University of Massachusetts is the only vendor that will satisfy the agency requirements with providing Radiation Physicist services for the Medical Department. �As part of the mission of FCC Butner, Radiation Psychist services are currently provided to the inmate population through the comprehensive Medical Services contract that Umass was awarded on 05/01/2020. �Due to age and constant down time with the current Linear Accelerator, FCC Butner, requires additional hours of Radiation Physicist services to support quality controls in the use of radiation producing sources. � The Radiation Physicist is responsible for calibrating outdated radiation therapy equipment and performing-ray performance surveys. �Additional hours are required to perform these safety procedures secondary to increased complexity of the aged equipment and the repetitive down time of he outdated equipment. A disruptive of radiation safety and quality services secondary to insufficient and inadequate quality controls from qualified Radiation Physicist would be detrimental to the orderly operations of the Complex. �This is not a request for competitive ?quotes and is a Sole Source procurement under the Simplified Acquisitions Procedures and Other Than Full Open Competition (FAR 6.302-1. �The Intent of this Special Notice is for informational purposes only. �However, all information received within 5 working days after the date of publication of this notice will be considered by the Government. �Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
