- Description
- 80AFRC22Q0023 NASA/AFRC has a requirement for a quantity of 1 ISM FabLab ISS Demo Flight printer with a new Advanced Toolplate, which will expand the On Demand Manufacturing of Electronics (ODME) electronics capabilities of the printer by utilizing swappable, custom-developed deposition and other functional tools for the 3D printing of electronics and all associated processing. Process tools/capabilities that are required on the system are listed below: High Resolution Digital Camera => Fast imaging for Vision and process analysis. Z height point scanner => Surface mapping for true 3D printing needs to be pre-scanned to precisely set printing gap to a conformal substrate. Pick and Place head => Capability to precisely place active and passive components. Direct write extrusion head => Precision microdispensing for multimaterial ink deposition. The system shall accommodate multiple direct write extrusion heads. Micro milling head => This mills cavities for active and passive discrete electronic components, but also can be used for smoothing the substrate surface and drilling via holes. 3D Filament => Thermoplastic 3D printing head with a wide range of polymer and polymer composite material options. Viewing Camera (hidden behind the heads) => This shows the gap in real time and, with advanced software, can calibrate deposition tips to the substrate surface. Each head or device will perform a specific task or process. This is controlled by advanced motion and control software on a precision 3D motion gantry system. In addition to the proccesses for manufacturing there is a requirement to do real time, in situ metrology. To do this, a combination of scanning and digital imaging will be required. A User Interface (UI) which is more capable and user friendly is a requirement of this procurement. The system shall be fully capable of printing diverse circuits without the need for extensive training. Additionally, the system shall also be automated to reduce the interaction required for printing. NASA/AFRC intends to issue a sole source contract to acquire the items from nScrypt, Inc. 12151 Research PKWY STE 150, Orlando, Florida 32826-2920, , under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Tiffany Goodwin at tiffany.n.goodwin@nasa.gov not later than 2:00 p.m. PDT on September 21, 2022. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/pub_library/Omb.html
