Description
The purpose of this RFI is to request information from industry related to the USCBs pending complex and mission-critical Information Technology (IT) infrastructure modernization efforts, also known as the Census Acceleration to Secure Cloud (CASC) initiative. CASC is in the early steps to help modernize the underlying technical infrastructure for the USCB. CASC provides on-premises and cloud technologies and related technical services which the USCB will use to modernize data collection, storage, and processing capabilities. CASC will provide the technical infrastructure and associated services to advance cutting-edge linking of survey, census, and third-party data; modernized data processing; quality product creation; and innovative dissemination to the public. The USCBs focus as an agency must no longer be simply to field surveys and censuses and to publish the results, but rather to shift to combining data science with traditional survey methods, elevating and diversifying data products, and placing data at the center of the approach, by accelerating to secure native cloud services. The objective of this initiative is to address challenges and propose new ways in which the USCB will take advantage of native secure cloud services. The CASC initiative is a means of scoping the necessary contractor support to mature the Information Technology (IT) technical capabilities, technical services, and technical support for the acceleration of secure cloud migration. The CASC initiative is divided into three pillars: 1. Technical support for the Census on-premises data center with the goal of reducing the on-premises footprint over time using native cloud technologies. 2. Technical capabilities and services for secure cloud services. This includes supporting ongoing applications using Census cloud capabilities and future applications targeting native cloud services. 3. Technical services to assist migration of existing and new applications onto native cloud technologies in a secure and cost-effective manner. This includes migrating existing applications hosted within the Census on-premises data center to cloud technologies and standing up new applications within cloud environments
