- Description
- Sources Sought IPEX Vortex Flow Insert (VFI) Notice of intent to use a brand name product. The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Pacific (NAVFAC Pacific) is performing a market survey to determine if other potential sources of supply can provide a Vortex Flow Insert (VFI) that has equal performance and listing/approval requirements to the IPEX VFI. This notice seeks products that have equal performance and listing/approval requirements as the IPEX VFI below, but that are not manufactured by IPEX. FY23 MCON P-209 Dry Dock 3 Replacement, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii requires products similar to the following items: IPEX VFI manufactured by IPEX USA L.L.C. or IPEX Inc. (1 total) Meet American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standard C900: Standard for Polyvinylchloride (PVC) Pressure Pipe and Fabricated Fittings, 4 to 12 nominal diameter. Meet AWWA Standard C905: Standard for PVC Pressure Pipe and Fabricated Fittings, 14 to 48 nominal diameter. Meet American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard C581-00: Chemical Resistance of Thermosetting Resins Used in Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Structures Intended for Liquid Service. Insert with a vortex energy dissipation drop structure that generates a forced fluid rotation or swirl, as the sewage drops down the insert drop shaft, such that the swirling flow down the insert is laminar, minimizing the amount of air entrained into the downflow. As the flow drops down the insert drop shaft, it achieves supercritical velocity, takes on a spiraling effect, and hugs the inside walls of the insert drop shaft to dissipate the energy and creating a laminar flow down the shaft. Insert installed in a standard sanitary sewer manhole without restricting access for maintenance. This notification is for market research purposes only to identify if other potential sources of supply can meet the requirements of the Government. This is not a request for proposals, quotes, or an invitation for bid. The intent of this notice is to identify other potential sources of this product.
