Description

NASA- GRC has a requirement for one (1) specialized Drop and Catch (DnC) Calorimeter. NASA-GRC intends to issue a sole source contract to acquire the item from Material Development, Inc (MDI).� �Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, this specialized Drop and Catch (DnC) Calorimeter will be used to perform experiments above the temperature of 2400 �C. This will establish the results in understanding the stability of materials at the very high temperatures.� This item will be used to support three (3) research tasks under Space Nuclear Propulsion Project, Technology Demonstration Mission Program, Space Technology Mission Directorate; Hybrid Efficient Core (HyTEC) and Transformative Tools and Technologies (TTT) Project within the Transformative Aeronautics Concept Program.�� The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations shall submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Kimberly Hill at kimberly.y.hill@nasa.gov no later than 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on September 22, 2022. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
