Description
Statement of Work for RHJ VAMC Nurse Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH s) Relationship-Centered Communication (RCC) skills and methods. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center (RHJ VAMC) in Charleston, South Carolina requires Nursing communication training services. The training services will focus on the Relationship-Centered Communication (RCC) skills of Nursing Staff. Training must target improvements needed in Nurse communication as identified through contractor analysis of RHJ VAMC patient experience data globally and at the nursing level. The required curriculum must be Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH s) Relationship-Centered Communication (RCC) to align with training already delivered to independent VA Clinicians. The C&A requirements do not apply, and the Security Accreditation Package is not required. The training services will be structured as follows: Component I: Training Implementation The RHJ VAMC required path for implementation of the training: Consultant and VA Staff-led workshops as described below. Objective 1: Consultant-led Training Workshops The training team will partner with RHJ VAMC to plan and deliver up to FORTY-SIX (46) Relationship-Centered Communication workshops. The industry standard that has been set by the Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH) in Medical Communication shall be used for all workshops. The workshops shall be led by an experienced ACH training team faculty member. The chosen training Vendor will facilitate planning calls with the RHJ VAMC project sponsor and leadership team. During these meetings, the training team and RHJ VAMC will: Plan a schedule for the training workshops. Discuss some methodologies for selecting nursing staff for the workshops. A maximum of 20 nurses per workshop will be trained in 46 workshops (across at least 22 days onsite) for a total of 880 attendees for training. The maximum class size is to ensure a positive environment for good skill development. Only active participants and the facilitator will be allowed in the workshop. Outline a communication plan for the training participants. FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS: RELATIONSHIP-CENTERED COMMUNICATION (RCC) The Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH) teaches communication competencies that ensure healthcare professionals deliver high-quality, relational care. These competencies, offered as three discrete skill sets, increase efficiency, optimize clarity, and strengthen relationships, thereby improving not only the patient experience but also the quality of work life and organizational culture. The Fundamental Skill Sets represent foundational elements for a relationship-centered healthcare culture where all communication is effective, empathic, and equitable. We also feature Advanced Topics, designed to build on the Fundamental Skills. APPROACH: The Government will exercise the right to present the material that will be learned via available online or in-person learning program, with expert ACH Facilitators build skill-development through active engagement. Facilitate Conversation: We invite participants to share goals, express preferences, and discuss examples from their own experiences. Each session shall include skills-based exercises, conducted in a supportive small group learning environment. Promoting real-time idea exchange offers participants the chance to integrate workshop content with individual learning goals. Discuss an action plan for follow-up activities to ensure skills developed during the training are transferred and sustained in the patient environment. Identify a RHJ VAMC contact that will be responsible for managing the logistics of the training environment. It is anticipated that training team faculty member will be onsite/offsite for a minimum of 22 full days to deliver the workshops according to the mutually agreed upon schedule. Key workshop RCC skills to present, and enhance include to following: Create rapport quickly with a Patient. Elicit the list of ALL concerns from the Patient. Negotiate the agenda with a Patient. Create rapport quickly How to elicit the list of ALL concerns from the Patient. Negotiate the agenda of how to proceed or what will follow the Patient. How to create rapport quickly with your Patient. Elicit the list of ALL concerns from the Patient. Training team faculty members will provide a summary of overall observations and reflections after delivering each of the workshops and will recommend next steps for sustainment of the skill for the staff. PERFORMANCE EXPECTIONS: Component I: Contractor to deliver all training workshops within 24 months of contract award.
