Description
Contractor shall remove earth material, rock debris, and woody vegetation behind bluff retaining wall. The rock debris is primarily composed of loose weathered sandstone and limestone slabs that have fallen from the adjacent bluff. The area to be cleared is approximately 800 linear feet by 8-feet wide by 10-feet deep. The access road adjacent to the retaining wall is relatively narrow and working access will be somewhat restrictive. All earth, rock debris, concrete, vegetation, and damaged wire mesh removed by the Contractor during the performance of this Contract shall be disposed of off-site in an approved manner, unless directed otherwise by the Contracting Officer. Site clean-up shall be the responsibility of the contractor. It is estimated that approximately 2,400 cubic yards will need to be removed. The finished grade behind the retaining wall shall be equal /near equivalent grade as the paved access road adjacent to retaining wall. There are two existing mesh debris curtains that drape from bluff (approximately 40 feet wide each). The contractor shall remove debris to the best of their ability without tearing the mesh. If the contractor must cut the mesh debris curtain to remove material behind the curtain, the contractor shall splice an equivalent mesh material to the existing curtain to repair the curtain that has been cut. Additionally, once the debris is removed the contractor shall repair any pre-existing damage to the curtain or replace as necessary.
