Description
INVASIVE PLANTS TREATMENT PETIT BOIS ISLANDS (Mississippi Sound) SYNOPISIS: This Solicitation is issued as a Request for Quotations pursuant to FAR PART 12 ACQUISITION OF COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS AND COMMERCIAL SERVICES as well as FAR PART 13 SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES. CONTRACT TYPE: The Government anticipates the award of a single Firmed-Fixed Price contract award resulting from this solicitation. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: from date of award thru October 31st, 2022. SCOPE: Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials and equipment for selective herbicide treatments of 92.57 acres and eradication of invasive torpedograss (Panicum repens) and cogongrass (Imperata cylindrica) infestations in a manner that comply with the technical requirements and quality standards cited in the attach Statement of Work (SOW). ACCESS TO ISLAND: Petit Bois Island is accessibly only by private boat. Petit Bois Island is a barrier island off the Mississippi Gulf Coast (south of Pascagoula), and is part of Jackson County, Mississippi. Since 1971, Petit Bois Island has been a part of Gulf Islands National Seashore, administered by the U.S. National Park Service. PRIMARY TREATMENT METHOD: Herbicide application via foliar spraying shall be the primary control method used. LOCATION OF INFESTATIONS: Maps are included in SOW Appendix A (pages 10 - 15). APPROVED PESTICIDES: NPS approved pesticides are listed in SOW Appendix B (page 16). BASIS OF AWARD: Responsive low price quotation or offer. REQUISITE LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Proof of Mississippi Pesticide Applicator Certification required. The sale and application of certain types of pesticides are restricted by law because of the probability of adverse effects on humans and the environment if pesticides were improperly used. Pesticides classified as ""restricted-use"" may be applied only by or under supervision of applicators certified by the Bureau of Plant Industry as competent and knowledgeable. Such applicators must attend training sessions and pass a written examination before they receive certification.
