Description
This is a sources sought announcement to be used for preliminary market research purposes only. No quotations are being requested or accepted with this synopsis. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR QUOTATIONS AND NO CONTRACT SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS SYNOPSIS. The type of solicitation to issue will depend upon the responses to this synopsis. No reimbursement will be made by the Government for any costs associated with providing information in response to this synopsis or any follow up information requests. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities and qualifications of various members of 8(a), HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Women Owned Small Business (WOSB), and Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) to compete and perform a Firm Fixed Price Purchase Order. The type of solicitation to be issued will depend upon the responses to this sources sought notice. The National Park Service, Lake Mead National Recreation Area has a need for a Wild Cave Simulator that is portable and towable for use at Great Basin National Park. This wild cave simulator will be durable and provide a realistic experience of a wild cave experience while teaching participants to be careful in caves by providing features not limited to noises and/or lights if they touch sensitive cave features or biota. The wild cave interior will be developed to look as natural as possible, with a variety of cave formations (speleothems), cave life, and artifacts (such as rock art and historic inscriptions). The features must include sensors so that if the participant touches them, they are immediately informed via noise and/or light. In addition, a score is recorded that they can review at the end to see how good a caver they were or similar feature. General Specifications (subject to update): � Walk through passage that has a cave-like appearance � Shall have photo-realistic durable speleothems (including cave shields and turnip stalactites), cave biota, and cultural resources in a variety of formats (specifications to be determined by discussion) � Climbing components such as climbing ropes, climbing holds, and helmets. � Technology so that if any speleothem/cave life/cultural resources are touched it emits a noise and/or light and is recorded, and participants can look at their computer score upon exiting the cave � Video output feed so viewers on the outside can see progress of those inside the cave simulator. � Automatic detection of people entering and exiting the cave, so each person can get their own caving score � � Transponders or similar that allow viewers to see location of each participant in cave and allow for computer score � Notification if person (via transponder) is stalled in one place for too long (programmable for length of time) � Soft flooring to assist with crawling (knee-pads not required) � Must include a cooling and heating systems � Exterior and interior lighting � Be wired to run by one standard 20 ampere outlet or generator. � Electric stabilizer jacks, for when mobile unit is stationary � Cave-related activities on outside of unit to help keep those waiting occupied, not limited visual aids of bat skeletons and information about cave-forming processes � Emergency exits � Uninterruptible Power Supply � Convenient storage for rapid deployment of educational materials � Warranty on electronics The unit will be delivered to Great Basin National Park and training will be provided to Park Staff. This training will include how to give a safety and orientation talk to users of the unit, what to do if there is an emergency in the simulator experience, how to maintain its cleanliness, and how to maximize the wild cave knowledge shared with participants. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Code applicable to this sources sought is 333310 - Commercial and Service Industry Machinery Manufacturing. The Small Business Size Standard for this NAICS code is 1,000 employees. - Note: NAICS Code 333310 is new for 2022. The previous NAICS for this work was 333318 - Other Commercial and Service Industry Machinery Manufacturing. Interested companies responding to this sources sought should include the following information: 1.
