- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: This is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101(a)(1) requiring the dissemination of information regarding proposed contract actions. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to award a single source contract under FAR 13.106-1 for a firm-fixed price (FFP) effort for BD Equipment Maintenance Service to Becton, Dickinson and Company, dba BD, 1 Becton DR, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. The requirement is for one year and includes four (4) one year option periods. This announcement is not a request for competitive quotes. Market research revealed that Becton, Dickinson and Company is the proprietary developer and sole service provider for the required services. This is under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b); Only One Source Reasonably Available. The proposed action will provide equipment coverage, preventative maintenance, 24-hour emergency on-site service, software revisions, and telephone support for the BD FACSCanto, FACSCalibur, FACSLoader, FACSLyric, and Universal Loader equipment for the Iowa City IA VA Hospital. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this service is 811219 (Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance). Product Service Code (PSC) is J065 (Maintenance, Repair, and Rebuilding of Equipment: Medical, Dental, and Veterinary Equipment and Supplies). Small business size standard is $22.0 million. While this synopsis does not constitute a solicitation, interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to satisfy the requirement, including documentation from the proprietary rights holder, Becton, Dickinson and Company, dba BD, 1 Becton DR, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417, that such contractor could provide this service as an authorized reseller, authorized dealer or third party.
