- Description
- UNOCCUPIED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS VOLCANO MONITORING SURVEYS VANCOVER, WA AND MAKUSHIN VOLCANO, AK The purpose of this Amendment is to answer submitted questions. No further questions will be accepted. Additionally the USGS is taking out the requirement about live video feed capability. Q1a: The RFQ states Makushin is the desired location for the work to be performed, but also states that the first test site may be addressed after instrument integration is completed. This suggests an award will be given, integration will occur, and then the location could change. Is that accurate? A: This should be modified. The target location is Makushin volcano. Q1b: Can contractors obtain a list of potential alternatives prior to submitting proposals? Due to differences in travel, lodging, and accessibility this could significantly impact the quotation. A: N/A Q2: See quote from RFQ below: ""Once Contractor has established the regulatory requirements, they will work with VSC to plan a series of volcano monitoring missions to be performed at the desired site of operations."" The quantity of monitoring missions will significantly impact the quotation. How many missions are required for consideration and will they all happen at the same location? A: The text should be modified. We consider the cost to include a two-week deployment. The contractor would be expected to fly as many missions as possible within that time span. Even one flight/mission is considered successful. Q3: I suspect initial testing of this mission was performed by Blackswift Technologies. Do potential contractors have access to previous reports and technical information from the original mission(s) for reference? A: Unless someone at NASA provides it to them, potential contractors should not have access to previous reports and technical info. Q4: I want to clarify that response to this notice is in the form of a technical description of our solution as well as a quote? A: Yes Q5: Are there mage minimums or limits? A: Wage minimums/limits? I don't think so, the total cost includes the development and deployment of a UAS to conduct the specified volcano monitoring mission Q6: Do you have any templates or format requirements? A: No Q7: Is there a number of deployments or deployment duration you want us to quote for? Otherwise we can just send a generic price per deployment / deployment day. A: The deployment is two weeks. We expect the contractor to perform as many missions/flights as possible within that timeframe. Weather is the limiting factor in the Aleutians.
