- This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement, to determine the method of acquisition, and availability of domestic sources manufactured in the United States in sufficient and reasonably available commercial quantities and of a satisfactory quality.� It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract.� Responses will not be considered as proposals or quotes.� No award will be made as a result of this notice.� The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice.� This notice is strictly for research and information purposes only. Small businesses are encouraged to respond. For equipment/supply requirements, responses must include the place of manufacturing (i.e. address if supply/equipment is a domestic end product and include country of manufacture). For equipment/supply requirements, small businesses must also address the size status of the manufacturer under the applicable NAICS code (i.e. address Non-Manufacturer Rule). Background: The Biochemistry Section (BCS) is a cell biology laboratory that uses HeLa, HCT116, M7, SH-SY5Y, U2OS, 293T cells to study apoptosis, mitochondria dynamics and Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy over the last 20 years. BCS staff require cell lines daily to study fundamental questions regarding Parkinson�s�disease, cancer and other neurodegenerative diseases. FBS is required to maintain the basic research for better understanding human diseases. Requirement: The purpose of this acquisition is to procure Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) used in mammalian cell lines for cell culture research. Due to the nature of FBS production, the quality varies from lot to lot, company to company and hence it is extremely important to secure a large amount of FBS from the same lot to maintain consistency of cell growth and performance, which is the key for generating reproducible data. Generic Name of Product: Fetal Bovine Serum Purchase Description: Fetal Bovine Serum, USA origin, heat inactivated, sterile-filtered, suitable for cell culture. Quantity: � 300 bottles of Fetal Bovine Serum in 500 ml bottle Delivery Requirements: Deliver 300 bottles of Fetal Bovine Serum in 500 ml bottle with dry ice. Capability Statement / Information Sought: Respondents must provide clear and convincing documentation of their capability of providing the products and support services specified in this notice. Also, information must be provided in sufficient details of the respondents� (a) staff expertise, including their availability, experience, formal and other training; (b) current in-house capability to perform the work; (c) prior completed projects of similar nature; (d) examples of prior completed Government contracts, references, and other related information. The respondent must also provide their� DUNS number, organization name, address, point of contact, and size and type of business (e.g., 8(a), HubZone, etc., pursuant to the applicable NAICS code and any other information that may be helpful in developing or finalizing the acquisition requirements. Finally, respondents are also encouraged to provide a general overview of the respondent�s opinions about the difficulty and/or feasibility of the potential requirement, and any other information regarding innovative ideas or concepts that may be applicable. The information submitted must be in an outline format that addresses each of the elements of the requirement and in the capability statement /information sought paragraphs stated herein.� A cover page and an executive summary may be included but is not required. The response is limited to ten (10) page limit.� The 10-page limit does not include the cover page, executive summary, or references, if requested.
