- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. This notice does not constitute a commitment by the Government. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary, and the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. The United States Army Health Contracting Activity, Regional Health Contracting Office-Central (RHCO-C), at JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas is requesting information and conducting market research to identify and determine if there are potential sources which have the capabilities to provide the requirements specified herein. As part of its market research, RHCO-C is issuing this Sources Sought to determine if there exists an adequate number of qualified interested contractors capable of providing Phakic Intraocular Lenses, in compliance with the below listed salient characteristics, for surgical purposes at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado. The Government may use the responses to this Sources Sought for information and planning purposes. This Sources Sought is only for the purpose of identifying potential sources as part of RHCO-C market research. No solicitation for this requirement exists at the time of posting for this Sources Sought Notice; please do not request a copy of a solicitation. Responses to this Sources Sought are not quotes on which the RHCO-C can issue any contract. This Sources Sought is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not itself constitute a RFP or RFQ. The Government does not intend to award a contract vehicle based only on responses to this Sources Sought. All information marked �proprietary� that is received in response to this Sources Sought will be protected and handled accordingly. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained in their response. Responses to the Sources Sought will not be returned. Respondents are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this Sources Sought. The Government will not pay for information received in response to this Sources Sought. Respondents shall not submit pricing information in response to this Sources Sought. Interested sources shall provide a response detailing their capability to provide the requirement specified herein. Reference Attachment 1 of this sources sought for additional information. With your response to this sources sought, please provide the following information: 1. Organization name, address, email address, Web site address, telephone number, business size and type of ownership for the organization; and 2. Tailored capability statements addressing the particulars of this requirement, with appropriate documentation supporting claims of organizational capability. The Government does not possess or own data rights necessary to distribute for this effort. Please note telephonic responses WILL NOT be accepted. The point of contact to email the above information is: Mr. Christopher Gregory at christopher.a.gregory11.civ@mail.mil, and Mr. Randall Cummins at randall.p.cummins.civ@mail.mil SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS� PHAKIC INTRAOCULAR LENS IMPLANTS FOR SURGERY 1. Must be made of a collamer material which will allow for implantation and explantation which causes minimal intrusion into the anterior segment of the eye. 2. Must be a single piece lens. 3. Must be able to be injected through an injection cartridge which can be inserted into a hole (a hole in the �eye which is created with a micro-scalpel blade) that is between 3.0 mm and 3.2 mm wide. 4. Must be designed to be implanted behind the pupil in a phakic eye (a phakic eye has the presence of the natural anatomical lens). Must be implanted in such a way as to not touch the natural anatomical lens of �the eye. 5. Must come in overall diameter sizes of 12.1, 12.6, 13.2 and 13.7 mm (+ or � 0.1 mm for each size). 6. Must be available in Dioptric powers between -3.0 and -14.0 in half diopter steps. 7. Must have an optic diameter of no less than 4.9 mm and no more than 5.8 mm (plus or minus 0.1 mm). 8. The optic must be aspheric or a convex/concave diverging optic.
