Description

The United States Air Force, Air Education and Training Command, 502d Air Base Wing, 502d Contracting Squadron, JBSA-Randolph, San Antonio, Texas 78150, publishes this notice of intent to award a single source contract for informational purposes only. This proposed action is to upgrade one of the 59th Medical Wing polyjet additive manufacturing machine at the 59 DSS Medical CAD/CAM Laboratory. The Government intends to solicit one quote with only one source under the authority of FAR 13-106-1(b)(1) resulting in a firm fixed price contract. This proposed procurement will be a Single Source under North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) 399114 � Dental Equipment and Supplies Manufacturing; Product Service Code (PSC) 6520 - Dental Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies; and, the size standard is 750 employees. The proposed source is Stratasys, Inc, 7665 Commerce Way, Eden Prairie, MN United States, 55344. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability�statement, proposal, quotation or exception with the intent to purchase on a single source basis, which shall be considered by the Government if received within five (5) business days of this notice. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to comply with FAR 5.207(c)(15), the reason for lack of competition is as follows: The 59th Medical Wing Polyjet is a patent owned machine manufactured by Stratasys, Inc. The 59 DSS Medical CAD/CAM Laboratory mission will be disrupted directly impacting dental training and patient care. Based on market research that was conducted using the Internet and GSA eBuy searches indicates that at least 7 small businesses could possibly provide a response to the solicitation (i.e. 6 SBs for compatible consumables and 1 SB for a compatible 3D Printer). However, this does not come with some risk because of the technical acceptability of the specialized 3D Printer and registered patents.
